It's the million dollar question: "What should we wear to our next photo session?" And quite honestly, it's one of the most important parts of a successful image. When you look good; you feel good! As you're planning: Think classic. Think comfortable. Think funky with a traditional flair. (It's easy to get carried away with trends, but remember, you want to cherish your family photo in 20 years, not laugh at it.)
Try this: The next time you look at a really cool picture, ask yourself what captured your attention? Probably two things: The lighting and the clothing. At RainKite we can control the lighting...but it's up to the client to control the fashion. So to help you plan your wardrobe, we are starting a new series on our blog called "What-To-Wear Wednesday." Each Wednesday we will post clothing suggestions from easy-to-find retailers.. Below are a few tips to get you started in the clothing selection process. But the most important thing is to be comfortable and be yourself!
So here are a few suggestions:
- Be coordinating, but not "matchy-matchy."
- Layer clothing, for both warmth and texture.
- Use accessories wisely - a scarf or necklace as a pop of color on mom. Some cute red shoes on little sister.
- Avoid pastels or all white, as it can wash out skin tones.
- Avoid crop pants or cap sleeves, as they tend to "chop off" extremities adding weight.
- Don't forget the hair! Please bring clips or a headband for hair...especially on windy days.
- Use bright colors to add visual flair.
- Cover skin on adults...sorry dad, no one wants to see your hairy legs!
